The crocodile on the wrist

History of the brand. René Lacoste, a famous tennis player,  founded La Chemise Lacoste in 1933 with André Gillier, the owner and president of the largest French knitwear manufacturing firm at the time. They began to produce the revolutionary tennis shirt Lacoste had designed and worn on the tennis courts with the crocodile logo embroidered on the chest. The famous crocodile logo that we know and love today actually originated as a bet between Mr. Lacoste and his coach over an alligator suitcase. Rebe was called an "alligator", which later transitioned to "crocodile".  The company became widely popular across the countries, mainly in the US, due to the fact that it was worn by many tennis players over the years.  In 2017, tennis player Novak Djokovic was named brand ambassador and "the new crocodile" (next to Rene Lacoste). Lacoste's fashionable offerings evolved into shoes, leather goods, purses and suitcases, as well as accessories such as sunglasses and watches. Lacoste models

One of the most famous models is a Lacoste Legend Automatic Limited Edition. Launched in 2005, this limited-edition timepiece from Lacoste pays tribute to the founding year of the world-renowned French clothing brand, which started its operations in 1933. This automatic watch features a tonneau-shaped stainless steel case inspired by the Art Deco movement of 1930s. The mechanical self-winding movement is equipped with a rotor featuring Côtes de Genève decoration and engraved with the famous Lacoste Crocodile. Lacoste always found a way to make their logo prominent and visible on every item they make. The stainless steel case of this Swiss-made watch is completed with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and case back.
In 2006, Lacoste entered a partnership with Movado Corporation to license their name and logo to a Movado-made collection. Now, Lacoste also makes chronographs and digital watches, which makes their range of men's timepieces even more diverse and appealing to a wide range of audiences.
